Adopt or die

Swiss twitter dinner Zurich with Wisequeen and Bloggers The future of client care and branding "Revenues from social networking, dating and personal content delivery services will increase from $572m in 2007 to more than $5.7bn in 2012, with social networking accounting for 50% of the total by the end of the forecast period." Juniper Research "Over 800 million people worldwide will be participating in a social network via their mobile phones by 2012, up from 82 million in 2007." eMarketer Still need convincing that as a non adopter of social media your personal or corporate brand will fall by the wayside in the next year or so? Well, if Virgin and Richard Branson think its worth doing, if a world conference is being held in London in March, don't you think you better ask what's going on? Simply Getting a Twitter and Facebook account isn't adopting, you need to communicate and promote your brand as we spoke about on the last post Major companies are replacing their PR person with a social media wiz kid who can communicate interactively with the market. Still scoffing? Well scoff no more, because communication has changed with web 2.0, its faster, word of mouth has changed, its faster. Do you and your company need an online presence? you tell me. Some good cautionary points about the importance of NOT staying on the sidelines these days. An appropriate title that I think could just as easily have also been titled "Adapt or Die." Either way, companies that are still stuck in the "shouting to the world" approach to marketing need to develop capabilities that help them better engage customers on a more personal, engaging level.

Thanks for the post, Donna.

Thought of adapt or die, but decided on the spin adopt because there are many late-adopters or non-adopters of social media. Thanks for your feedback Mel

Can I just say that I love that when you give advice on Social media, you are never condescending. I really appreciate you just giving a simple answer, and not talking down to those of us who pepper you with questions. I'd love more people to get your help, because it is so worth it. Thank you so much, Donna.
